All right, so while at work (I work in an art gallery) I ran into a couple of "altered art" artists! As we talked the woman explained that a friend of hers is an art teacher and each year she collects chairs. These chairs she usually finds in thrift stores, junk yards, or garage sales (for cheap to nothing). Then once a year she has her students refurbish the chairs and paint a neat design on them! Then (this is the best idea) they auction them off to raise money for the art department! This could be turned into a whole unit! Just thought I would share this idea with other art teachers!
By the way....I tried making Tahini-battered Tofu and it came out ok. The batter didn't stick too well to the tofu...Maybe more egg? I might try it again and see what happens.

Get ready New Orleans!
So I booked the flight! It's official, I'm going to New Orleans! I am pretty excited since I am going for an Art Education conference, my first ever. I will be sure to take tons of pics and plan on visiting music venues and art galleries. I've never been and hope its as amazing as it was before Katrina.
I am making an alphbet book that uses art styles and periods. It should be pretty neato and I'll be sure to post pics when its finished! An example is A is for Abstract, B is for Bauhaus, C is for Cubism. Cute idea for art teachers I think. It would even be a good book making project for students. Each page could even be done in that style. Like squares and blocks for cubism! Looking forward to starting this new project:-)

I did it!
I made Vegan Quiche and it was good! I was so surprised since I am really not a patient cook. It was sauted veggies (green peppers, mushrooms, green onions) in blended tofu. Delicious. I bought some veggie cheese too...but its nothing like the real thing. I don't miss the meat but the dairy thats another story..if anyone knows any good cheese substitutes let me know:-) I'll try to post the quiche recipie, I got it from fatfree vegan...I think its one of my links.

Updates on stuff
Hey hey hey!
The vegetarian pledge is going great. I feel wonderful and am enjoying the plentiful fruit! I really need to stop by the market and check out the selection of tofu and soy milks. I've had soy milk before and its pretty good, almost sweet. I've had tofu too but think I've should have marinated it longer. I'm going to try to sample a couple different recipies I've found and I'll try to post pics and let yall know what the best. Love your life. Its beautiful in FL!

New Orleans or Bust?
Hey all! This year the National Art Education Association is going to New Orleans! This is my first year as a member and I am considering going. I hear there are loads of resources for teachers. Hopefully I'll begin posting some lesson plans on here and maybe even ideas for projects:-)
On another note, the Vegetarian 30 day challenge is going great. I really haven't craved meat.

My First Post!
I've been so inspired by other bloggers that I've created my own! Now the tough part is deciding what it should be about or moreso my "theme". I'd like to make my blog a place were art educators and just plain ol crafty people can get ideas for projects. I am pretty involved in the art community and am always looking for ways to expand.
On another note I want my blog to inspire. I love anything kitsch, artsy, pop, cute, crazy, and fun!
I am also going to post ceramic work I've done. I am looking forward to this summer when I'll have plenty of time to dedicate myself to throwing.

I also just too a 30 day vegetarian pledge. Its kind of an experiment:-) So far so good!
Well I am excited to begin blogging! Take care!
